James Hall (b.c.1790)
Captain James Hall, Master Mariner & Privateer, of Bath & Augusta, Maine
He was a merchant seaman and privateer, originally from bath before settling in Augusta, Maine. On one occasion during the War of 1812, his ship - the America - captured and brought in an English merchant vessel with $10,000 of booty aboard, comprised of dry goods and silk. He was married twice. By his first wife, Hannah, daughter of George and Ann (Drummond) Shepard of Bath, he was the father of four children: James, George, Shepard, and Ann Mary Hall. In 1833, he built what is today known as the Blaine House at Augusta and the following year he married his second wife, Frances. He is assumed to have died in the early 1840s.
