James Greenshields (1793-1856)

Farmer, of St. Hilaire, Quebec

He grew up in the Parish of Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, emigrated to Canada circa 1833 at St. Hilaire, Quebec, where he was a well-respected farmer. During the Rebellion of 1837, he was taken prisoner while carrying despatches for Colonel Wetherall. He died in an accident on his farm leaving a widow, children and grandchildren.
