Horace Garlick Brown (1904-1972)

Captain Horace G. Brown Jr., of Richmond, Virginia & Los Angeles, California

He was born in Richmond, Virginia, and went to Hollywood to become an actor. He appeared in three movies: In Old Chicago (1938), Marie Walewska (1937) & The Buccaneer (1938). During World War II, he served as a Captain with the merchant navy. In 1930, he married Virginia Powell and they had three children before she died in 1942. His second marriage in 1946 to Grace Smith ended in divorce after barely a year. In 1951, he married Marion Davies who only eleven weeks before had lost her life partner, William Randolph Hearst. The marriage was not happy, but they stayed together.
