Henry Russell Shaw (1859-1904)

of Boston; Founder of Harvard's Henry Russell Shaw Summer Fellowships

He was born in Paris and was a classmate of Teddy Roosevelt at Harvard where he was a member of the Institute of 1770, the Dickey, Hasty Pudding Club, and Porcellian. Harvard's "Henry Russell Shaw Summer Fellowships" support graduating seniors to pursue purposeful travel in Europe. He died at Pointe-au-Pic, Quebec. He married Grace Rathbone and their son, Gardiner Howland Shaw, became a “nationally known specialist in the field of criminal rehabilitation and youth problems.”
