Henry Homes Porter (1876-1933)

President of the Chicago Union Transfer & Clearing Railway Company

He followed the career of his father becoming Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Transfer & Clearing Company, and he was a director of the First National Bank, the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad and the American Shipbuilding Company. Noted for his philanthropy he was a great friend to the Illinois Childrens Home and Aid Society. He belonged to the Chicago, Chicago Athletic, University and Saddle and Cycle Clubs. In 1901, he married Mary Prentice, the sister of E. Parmalee Prentice who married Alta, the eldest daughter of John D. Rockefeller. They lived between 1322 Astor Ave., Chicago, and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. They were survived by 4-children.
