Harry Frederick Cawthorn Stikeman (1880-1953)

of Senneville, Quebec; former Major in the Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles

He was born in Quebec and was educated in England at his father's old school, Uppingham School in Rutland. Having served as a Major in the Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles during WWI, he went to Philadelphia where he became Vice-President of William H. Horstmann & Co., Manufacturers of Dress Trimmings & Military Goods, first established by his wife's great-grandather in 1815 and of which his father-in-law was president. He returned to Canada in 1925, working for the Royal Bank of Canada in Montreal before establishing his own firm (1929), The Montreal Real Estate Board. In 1912, he married Dorothea, daughter of Walter Horstmann, of Philadelphia.
