George Kittson (1779-1832)

George Kittson J.P., of Sorel & Montreal

He never met his father who died in the same year he was born. He was brought up by his mother's second husband, the celebrated fur-trader and explorer, Alexander Henry "The Elder" (1739-1824). He was a merchant, Justice of the Peace, clerk of the Commissariat and was the King's auctioneer at Sorel in Lower Canada before ending his career as the Chief Cashier of the Bank of Canada in Montreal.
