Frederick Henderson Brydges (1852-1928)
Frederick H. Brydges, of Winnipeg, Manitoba
He was born in London, England, the son of Charles J. Brydges who came to Montreal as the General Manager of the Great Western Railway of Canada. He graduated from McGill University and came to Winnipeg connected to the railroad business. In 1892, he established the firm of F. H. Brydges & Sons as land, insurance and commission agents. He was a founding shareholder in the Vulcan Iron Works. He was a founding Member of the St. Charles Country Club. He was also a member of the Carleton Club, Manitoba Club, Lakewood Country Club, Wellington Club; and, the Hurlingham Club in London. In 1877, he married Nina Allan, the year after she had eloped with him to Boston while still married to her first husband. Brydges adopted two of her children (Bessie, and John) from her first marriage and they had two children of their own (John and Letitia Brydges). He died at Victoria, British Columbia.
