Ezra Williams Howard (1818-1869)
of Providence, Rhode Island
He was the son of Thomas and Mary (Humphrey) Howard and he was born in the same house in which he died at Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from Brown University (1838) and was admitted to the Bar of Rhode Island in 1841 but he never pursued this or any other career on account of ill-health and "an ample patrimony". He was known for his liberal hospitality and his home was noted for its "furniture, fine books, fine pictures, fine sculptures, and all objects of art". In 1857, he married Elizabeth Stuyvesant Neilson daughter and they had three surviving children.
