Eleanora (Iselin) Kane (1849-1938)

Mrs Eleanora (Iselin) Kane

She was born at Hartford, Connecticut. In 1872, she married Colonel Delancey Astor Kane, whose mother was a grand-daughter of John Jacob Astor. Her husband imported the first four-in-hand road coach (named Tally-Ho) from England to America and in 1933 Mrs Kane presented it to the Museum of City of New York. She was a founder an honorary President of the Catholic Young Women's Club and a member of the Colony Club. The Kanes lived between Beach Cliffe in Newport and "The Paddocks" in New Rochelle, where she died leaving an estate of $1.3 million. She was survived by one son.
