Edwin Thorne (1826-1889)

of "Thornedale" Dutchess Co., New York

He was a partner in the family's leather and shipping business in New York City. In 1871, he bought "Thornedale" from his father for $75,000. It sat on 537-acres and h bred a herd of Jersey cattle there. He married in 1857 and had three sons.
