Edmund Quincy III (1681-1737)

Judge Edmund Quincy III, of Quincy, Massachusetts

He was born at Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard (1699). He was a successful merchant at Braintree and during the course of his career he was also appointed a Selectman; Justice of the Peace; Colonel of the Militia; Representative in the General Court; Member of Council; Agent at the Court of St. James; and, Justice of the Supreme Court of Massachusetts. In 1701, he married Dorothy, daughter of Rev. Josiah Flynt of Dorchester and they were the parents of eight children of whom four (listed) lived to adulthood. He died in London leaving an estate valued in excess of £14,000 including 1,000-acres at Lenox.
