Edmund Carmick Watmough (1797-1848)

Edmund C. Watmough, of Philadelphia & "Hope Lodge" Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania

He was a member of the Philadelphia Bar, an amateur artist, and for several years served as the U.S. Consul to Cuba. He lived between Philadelphia and Hope Lodge (pictured above) in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania (that he sold in 1832), which had been presented as a wedding gift to his father from the English merchant banker Henry Hope. His wife, Maria, was a grand-daughter of Benjamin Chew, of Cliveden, and they were the parents of five children.
