Dr. John Neilson (1717-1745)

M.D., emigrated from Belfast to Raritan, New Jersey

He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and was the uncle of William Neilson. His elder brother, James Neilson (1700-1783), had already emigrated to Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where he had become an important merchant and the owner of several ships that traded between Europe and America via the Caribbean.
