David Stoddard Greenough II (1787-1830)
J.P., Lawyer & Diarist, of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts
He graduated from Harvard (1805), practiced law, served as a Justice of the Peace, and was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Boston Independent Cadets. He kept a daily diary and when his father died in 1830 he inherited a one-half share of Noddles Island (East Boston). In 1813, he married Maria Foster Doane, daughter of Elisha and Jane (Cutler) Doane of Wellfleet and Cohasset, Massachusetts. They in the Greenough family home in Jamaica Plain and had eight children, six of whom (listed) lived beyond infancy.
