David Johnson Gardiner (1840-1924)

of the Brown House, Main Street, East Hampton, L.I., New York; unmarried

He was the eldest son and heir of his father but transferred all his rights and privileges to Gardiner Island to his brother, Col. John Lyon Gardiner. He lived at the Brown House (pictured) on Main Street in East Hampton, Long Island, where he raised thoroughbred trotting horses. He died unmarried
