Daniel Sargent (1764-1842)

State Senator & Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts etc.

He was born at Gloucester, Massachusetts. Coming to Boston, he became a Director of the Boston Bank; President of the Boston Marine Insurance Company; Trustee of the Massachusetts General Hospital; Treasurer & Receiver-General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; a State Senator and Member of Legislature. He lived in his mansion house on Mount Vernon Street, Boston. The elder of his two children, Nancy, was born out of wedlock in a scandal that rocked society.
