She was described by contemporary writers as "a handsome woman", and entertained frequently at the large home known as the "Blue House" that she built with her first husband at Matilda Township. Sometimes she assisted her mother as hostess for visitors to "Fowlis" the Munro mansion on the St Lawrence River.
