Col. Robert Baldwin (1741-1816)
of Upper Canada; Commander of the 1st Durham Regiment in the War of 1812
He was a nephew and named for his mother's brother, Sir Robert Warren (1723-1811), 1st Bt., of Warren's Court, Co. Cork. In Ireland, he lived at "Summer Hill" near Carrigaline, Co. Cork, but came to Upper Canada after the death of his wife in 1798. He is sometimes referred to as "Robert the Emigrant" and was the grandfather of Robert Baldwin, Premier (Prime Minister) of Canada (1842-43). He had 16-children.
