Arthur Nelson Welman (1845-1906)

Captain in the Somerset Yeomanry Cavalry; of Southernleigh, Somerset

He was second son of an English landowner and rose to the rank of Captain in the 66th Regiment and the West Somerset Yeomanry Cavalry. He was described by Henry James as Kate's "useless husband" who she married at the Brompton Oratory, London, in 1878. They lived at Southernleigh in Minehead, Somerset.
