Arthur Hare Vincent (1840-1916)

Colonel Arthur Hare Vincent, J.P., of Summerhill, High Sheriff of Co. Clare

He was born at Summerhill, Co. Clare. He was Colonel in command of the 3rd King's Own Hussars and for sometime was stationed in India. In 1871, he married Elizabeth, daughter of Dr David Davidson Manson, of Spynie, Morayshire, by whom he had two sons and a daughter. She died in 1879, and in 1883 he married Gertrude, daughter of Richard Birley Baxendale (1827-1878), of Blackmore End, Hertfordshire, and 35 Portman Square, London. They were the parents of one son and three daughters. In Ireland in the 1870s, Arthur Vincent owned 134-acres in Co, Clare, 121-acres in County Cork, and 601-acres in Co. Tipperary. They lived at 35 Portman Square; Pleasance Court, East Grinstead; and, Summerhill, Co. Clare, where he died in 1916.
