Archer Milton Huntington (1870-1955)

Founder of the Hispanic Society of America & Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina

He is generally believed to have been the illegitimate son of the railroad tycoon Collis P. Huntington who met his mother at a gambling table in Richmond, Virgina, while she was the mistress of the saloon proprietor, Worsham. After Worsham died in 1878, his mother married Collis Huntington and Archer took the Huntington name, becoming his presumed father's principal heir.
