Greys Court

Greys Court, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire

Greys Court is a Tudor country house rebuilt by Sir Francis Knollys (1511-1596), Treasurer to the Royal Household, who was gifted the estate by King Henry VIII in exchange for a single rose. His wife, Lady Knollys, was Chief Lady of the Bedchamber to her first cousin, Queen Elizabeth I. Greys Court featured in Series 3 of Downton Abbey when the Crawley family visited "Eryholme". Greys Court remains both a family home and a house museum, operated by the National Trust.
