Wynant Van Zandt (1765-1831)

Merchant, of New York City & Douglaston, Queens Co., N.Y.

In 1796, he entertained Louis-Philippe d'Orléans, in New York. After the he returned to France, the future king wrote an autographed letter of thanks to Van Zandt for his hospitality, accompanied with the gift (see images) of an ornate watch seal.
