William Molson Macpherson (1848-1933)

Lt.-Col. William Molson Macpherson J.P., President of Molson's Bank, Quebec

He was born in Montreal and educated in England and Toronto. He came to Quebec City in 1870 as an agent for Maxwells, Grain Merchants of Liverpool. There, he became Manager of the White Star-Dominion Shipping Line and was President of the Molson's Bank from 1897. He was a Director of the London, Liverpool & Globe Insurance Company; the Montreal Trust Company; and, the Upper Fraser Quebec Lumber Company. He was Governor of the Montreal General Hospital, Honorary Lt.-Colonel of the 8th Royal Rifles and in 1910 was created a Knight of Grace of the Order of St John. He was a co-founder of the Mount Royal Club in Montreal and lived at 73 Ste.-Ursule Street, Quebec. He married Maria Stuart Wotherspoon of Quebec.
