William Mellis Christie (1829-1900)

William Mellis Christie, of Christie's Biscuits, Toronto

Born at Huntly, Aberdeenshire, in Scotland, only child of John and Janet (Grant) Christie. He came to Toronto as a teenager and found employment in a bakery. He eventually went into partnership with his employer and became the President of Christie, Brown & Co., then the largest manufacturers of biscuits in Canada.
