William Heyward (1753-1786)

of Old House Plantation, Jasper County, South Carolina

He was a younger brother of Thomas Heyward Jr., who was one of the Signers of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The Old House Plantation was originally acquired by their father, Daniel, in 1743. It then passed to William and after his death it passed to William's brother, Nathaniel, who by the time of his death in 1851 was estimated to have been the wealthiest planter in antebellum South Carolina. William married Hannah Shubrick and had four children.
