William Edward Payne (1804-1838)
William Edward Payne, of Boston & Paris; died unmarried
He was born at Boston. he was educated at Phillip's Academy, Andover, and graduated from Harvard in 1824 He studied law at Northampton and then worked in the offices of Lemuel Shaw and Sidney Bartlett, of Boston. He was admitted to the bar in 1827. The money ($25,000) he received from his aunts (Mrs Gore and Mary Payne) was used to settled his father's debts. He travelled to Europe for his health where he lived for the last few years of his life before he died at Paris, where he is buried. It was said, "he was very fond of doing good to others".
