William Constable (1786-1821)

of Constable Hall, Constableville, Lewis Co., New York

He was born in New York City and like his father was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. When his father died, he inherited four townships in Lewis County, New York, which covered 104,000-acres. From 1810, he began construction of Constable Hall at Constableville. During its construction, he was badly injured when a slab of limestone fell on him and he died of his injuries two years later. He married Mary, daughter of John McVickar, and they were the parents of five children.
