William Brown Dinsmore, Jr. (1902-1976)
"Bill" Dinsmore; Pianist & Composer, of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts
He was born in New York City and studied music at the Juilliard School (1924-28) where his composition teacher was Rubin Goldmark. He became a pianist and a composer and taught harmony and counterpoint at the Juilliard and to private pupils in New York. In 1940, excerpts from his opera "Thorwald" were performed at Carnegie Hall. Although few of his works were published and despite failing health he continued to compose. He was a long-term year-round resident of Martha's Vineyard. He married Edith Totten Bradley (d.1951) and was survived by a daughter and 2-stepdaughters
