William Banks (1782-1848)

He was born in London, the son of James Banks (1749-1848) who was originally from the north of England where he was Master of a Freemasons Lodge before becoming a shipping and commissions merchant in Jamaica. William was married twice. He married his first wife in 1807 in Easterling, Kent, England. He married his second wife, Isabella, in New York. She was the daughter of Robert Lenox, President of the New York Chamber of Commerce.
