Warner Lewis Wormeley (1785-1814)
of "Wormeley Grove" King William County, Virginia
He was educated in England at Ashford and London, but his father found him so "remarkably ignorant" he threatened to cut his inheritance. On returning to Virginia, he married Maria, daughter of Dr. Elisha Hall. They had four children, but only two sons survived infancy. He inherited 2,923-acres between New Castle and Hanovertown, Virginia, which consisted of two estates: "Manskin Lodge" (1,923-acres) and "Wormeley Grove" (1,000-acres). He lived at the latter estate with his family and after his premature death in 1814 it was held in trust for his widow who then moved to Fredericksburg where she remarried the actor and stage producer James Henry Caldwell.
