Walter Spencer Morgan Burns (1872-1929)

He a nephew of the banker J.P. Morgan. In London, he was regarded one of those rare citizens of the world in every sense, much traveled, widely read and remarkably at home in a multiplicity of pursuits. His art collection, including Limoges enamels, outstanding specimens of majolica and faience of Henry II, which are among the rarest of Renaissance wares, was housed in a beautiful Jacobean house in North Mymms Park, Hertfordshire. In Paris, where he was born, he formed a library of Napoleonic literature which is notable for its completeness. Before his retirement some years ago Mr. Burns had been associated with the banking house of Morgan, Grenfell & Co. of London. His mother, the late Mrs. Walter Burns, a sister of the elder J. Pierpont Morgan, left to her son a large part of her valuable art collection. He died at Monte Carlo.
