Timothy Paine (1730-1793)
of Worcester, Mass., Justice, Assemblyman, & Member of His Majesty's Council
He was born at Bristol, Rhode Island, but moved to Worcester, Massachusetts, when his mother remarried John Chandler. He graduated from Harvard (1748) and was successively: Clerk of the Worcester County Court; Register of Probate & Deeds; Justice of the Supreme Court; Member of His Majesty's Council; Town Clerk; Selectmen, and Representative to the Massachusetts General Court. He was appointed guardian of the Hassanamisco Indians in Grafton and was a Loyalist in the Revolution.
