4th, 8th & 12th Governor of Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts Bay
He emigrated to America in 1621 on the ship Fortune, arriving in Plymouth a few days after the first Thanksgiving. He was married four times and had nine children (listed) who lived to adulthood. He co-founded Eastham, Mass., and the house he built there in 1646 (since demolished) is shown above. He later returned to Plymouth where he had twice served as Governor and served a third term (1657-1673).
