Thomas Greene (1705-1763)

Shipping Merchant, of Boston, Massachusetts

He was born at Boston, Massachusetts. He became a shipping merchant and owned Greene's Wharf. In 1758, he was the fifth highest taxpayer in Boston. He was a director of the Massachusetts Bank and established the Greene Foundation at Trinity Church, Boston. His first wife, Elizabeth, was a daughter of John Gardiner 3rd Proprietor of Gardiner's Island. After she died he married her cousin the widow Martha Coit Hubbard. He had six children (listed) who lived to adulthood.
