Thomas Chandler Thacher (1858-1945)

Wool Merchant of Boston & U.S. Congressman from Massachusetts

He was born at Yarmouth, Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard University (1882). He entered the wool business in Boston and became President of the Barnstable County Agricultural Society, President of the Cape Cod Pilgrim Memorial Association, Chairman of the Yarmouth Port Planning Board; and, Chairman of the Provincetown Tercentenary Commission. As a Democrat, he was elected to the U.S. Congress serving from 1913 to 1915. He married Maria, daughter of Henry Sheldon Leavitt, and they had three children.
