Theodore Pratt (1887-1977)

of New York City & "Little England" Gloucester, Virginia

He was a grandson of one of the founders of the Standard Oil Company of New York (now the Mobil Oil Company). He was also a director of the oil company as well as of the Chase National Bank, the Delaware & Hudson Company, and the Germanic Safe Deposit Company. He was also a trustee of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn which was founded by his grandfather, Charles Pratt. In 1940, he moved from New York to Gloucester where he restored a Colonial house and estate that he named "Little England". He and his wife, Pauline Maynard Taylor, developed a daffodil‐growing business and donated many plants to the National Arboretum in Washington and other institutions. He was a member of the New York Yacht Club, the Key Largo Club and the Seawanhalca Corinthian Club.
