Suetonius Grant (1702-1744)

Sueton or Sweton Grant, of Newport & Providence, Rhode Island

He was born at Dalvey in Scotland and inherited the Grant estate (Dalvey) and Baronetcy by way of his second cousin, Sir Ludovic Grant 2nd Bt. He never used the title (3rd Baronet of Dalvey) and sold the estate to another cousin, Patrick, before sailing to Newport, Rhode Island, in 1725 where he was a slave-trader and manufactured gunpowder at Providence. In 1728, he married Temperance Talmage from East Hampton, New York. He died in an explosion and was survived by three daughters.
