Pioneers of Salem Merchant Shipping, of 188 Derby Street, Salem, Massachusetts
He made his early fortune commanding privateers during the Revolution, but after the war became one of the wealthiest maritime merchants in Salem, sending his ships to Russia, India and the West Indies.
