Samuel Roosevelt Johnson (1802-1873)
Rev. Samuel Roosevelt Johnson, of New York
He was born at Albany, New York but orphaned the following year. He was brought up in New York City by his half-uncle, Peter Roosevelt (1763-1833). He was educated in Divinity at Columbia College and his first appointment was at St. James' Church in Hyde Park, Dutchess County. He boarded with Judge Johnston at Bellefield and married his daughter, Elizabeth, in 1826.
