Samuel Mickle Fox (1763-1808)
Landowner & President of the Bank of Pennsylvania
He became a significant landowner in western Pennsylvania, acquiring 118,000-acres which did not include his land in Venango (now Clarion County). He was an incorporator of the Bank of Pennsylvania in 1793 and served as its President from 1796 until his death. He was a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania and a Member of the Select Council of Philadelphia, serving on various committees. In 1788, at the Market Street Meeting House, he married Sarah, daughter of Samuel and Mary (Pemberton) Pleasants. They had thirteen children and twelve (listed) survived infancy.
