Samuel Marvin Fitch (1770-1857)

Samuel M. Fitch, of Governor Fitch's House, Norwalk, Connecticut

He was the son of Daniel Fitch, nephew of Governor Thomas Fitch. He married his second cousin, Esther Fitch, a grand-daughter of Governor Thomas Fitch. He purchased the remains (the kitchen wing) of the Governor's house at Norwalk (burned by the British in the Revolution) from his wife's first cousin, Colonel Thomas Fitch. They lived here all their lives and brought up their children and some of their grandchildren here too. After they died, the property was passed to their grand-daughter, Mrs Elizabeth (Fitch) Bowen of Montreal and it remained in the Fitch family until 1945.
