Samuel Lyman Hinckley (1810-1871)

Treasurer of the Northampton Institution for Savings, etc.

He assumed the name "Hinckley" in accordance with his maternal grandfather's - Judge Samuel Hinckley's - will, inheriting his property. He graduated from Williams College and the Cambridge Law School. He was President of the Hampshire Mutual Fire Insurance Company, Secretary of the Agricultural Society, and High Sheriff of Hampshire County, with an estimated fortune of $50,000 in 1851.
