Samuel Gouverneur (1771-1847)

Samuel Gouverneur Jr., former Merchant, retired to Philipstown, New York

Having involved the family firm, Gouverneur & Kemble, in extremely costly endorsements for Samuel Ogden, he retired with his family to his father-in-law's (Captain Frederick Philipse) place in Putnam County, New York. He was survived by his widow, three unmarried sons and two daughters.
