Salmon Portland Chase (1808-1873)

U.S. Senator, Governor of Ohio, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury & U.S. Chief Justice, etc.

He was also U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under Abraham Lincoln and 6th Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The Chase National Bank (better known today since various mergers as the Chase Manhattan Bank) was named in his honor by John Thompson, founder of the First National Bank, a predecessor of Citigroup.
