Robert Worth Bingham (1871-1937)

Judge, U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, & Owner of the 'Louisville Times'

He built "Melcombe" (see images) on a bluff above the Ohio River, so named for Melcombe Bingham in Dorset, England, despite having been unable to establish a link between that Bingham family (nb. Richard Bingham) and his own.
