Robert Fleming Crooks (1855-1933)

R. Fleming Crooks, of 72 South Audley St., London, & "Step Rock House" St. Andrews

He was the son of Robert and Mary (Fleming) Crooks of "Rosemont" Edge Lane, Liverpool. His father was a merchant and senior partner of Robert Crooks & Co., Liverpool, in which he became a partner in 1879. His only sister, Mary, was married to William Francis Kyffin Taylor, 1st Baron Maenan. He presented a collection of Shia clay prayer-stones from Kerbela to the British Museum in 1917. He lived between London and his home in St. Andrews, Fife, overlooking the golf course. He married his American wife in 1901, she was the widow of Lord Playfair. They died without children.
