Robert Carter Burwell (1720-1779)
Col. Robert Carter Burwell, of Isle of Wight Co., Virginia
He was educated at William and Mary College. He became a Member of the King's Council and a Member of the Virginia House of Burgesses. In 1742, he married Sarah, daughter of Thomas Nelson, of Yorktown. His second wife was Mary, daughter of George Braxton, of "Newington". He had two children by his first wife.
