Richard Taliaferro (1705-1779)
"The Architect" of Williamsburg & Powhatan House, James City County, Virginia
He was born in England, and built Powhatan House (pictured) circa 1750 with bricks imported from England. He also built the Wythe House that still stands in Williamsburg for his son-in-law, U.S. Founding Father George Wythe. Although not the original architect, in Williamsburg he worked on the Governor's Palace, the Capitol, and the President's House at the College of William & Mary.
